The Kremlin is aware of the pressure on Belgrade and will closely monitor the joint exercises between Serbia and the United States, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“Attempts to win over those who take an anti-Russian position are constantly being made. We know that Belgrade is under terrible pressure, under unprecedented pressure. As for the mentioned exercises, we will certainly be watching them very closely,” the spokesman said.
On April 5, Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic announced that Serbia would conduct joint exercises on its territory with the United States and 10 partner countries of the Platinum Wolf.
The Serbian Ministry of Defense said that the exercises will be held from June 16 to 30. The ministry added that the country maintained a moratorium on international military exercises, but the Platinum Wolf was an exception.
The Platinum Wolf maneuvers have been held near the city of Buyanovac (Serbia) since 2014. Previously, the military armies of Great Britain, France, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, etc. took part in them.
